National Open University of Nigeria
OVERVIEW

Open and distance learning ODL is a type of education where students who are not physically present in a traditional classroom environment receive instruction using a number of technologies. Online courses, correspondence programs, and other types of self-paced learning can fall under this category.

Open and distance learning ODL is especially helpful for students who, for geographical, economical, or other reasons, are unable to attend conventional brick-and-mortar colleges.
Open and distance learning ODL has been used in universities and polytechnics in Nigeria for a number of years to allow students to study at their own pace. The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is the country’s first and biggest institution for open and remote learning, and it has aided in expanding access for many students to higher education.

Additionally, Open and distance learning ODL has been incorporated into the academic programs of several other Nigerian universities.
Overall, Open and distance learning ODL is a powerful and adaptable form of instruction that can allow children who might not be able to attend traditional schools more access to education.
An annual essay competition on open and distance learning has been established, according to the vice chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.
The award was created as a way for students to engage in discursive academic-style communication with various university departments about their opinions and experiences. The essay would discuss one or more aspects of NOUN’s operations as well as the satisfaction and interaction of the student with the pertinent area.

The Vice-Open and distance learning ODL Chancellor’s Essay Competition should be the name of the competition. It will be carried out yearly.
